One of the biggest reasons for going digital with photography is the
ability to zoom in and work with different parts of an image on a
pixel level. There are many different ways to get in close and navigate
around.
One of the easiest ways is to click on the magnifying glass icon to
zoom in on a certain screen location.
Click on the screen where you want to zoom in. Hold down the ALT key
and click to zoom out.
Once you are zoomed in you need to move around. There is another tool
that makes this easy. It looks like a hand.
You simply click and drag the screen around. This is a much fast way to
move around the screen than zooming in and out - expecially for high
resolution images.
There is also a little window that shows you where you are in a large
image. You can click on the red rectangle to move it around.
There is one other technique that is technically a keyboard shortcut to
zoom in and out - but it is so useful that you should know about it.
If you click CTRL+ the window will zoom in on the center. If you click
CTRL- it will zoom out.
