Those two spots pretty far back on the head? They must be the eyes. My goodness.

An instant before flying off. Not a good look at it in general, but look at how it's grasping (clasping?) the grass! So many kinds of beetles climbing the beach grass, and they're all clumsy at it. I guess it's a sometimes thing for them, and not really a high-stakes deal at that scale -- falling doesn't harm them.
