William Shakespeare once wrote: "To be, or not to be: that is the question" . This was in reference to the great soliloquy given by Hamlet, where he contemplated the meaning of life versus the meaning of death. Many writers over time have attempted to capture this emotion, and one such author who has done a very good job of the task is Robert Frost. In his poem "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening", Frost very subtly describes a situation where a man contemplates the meaning of his life. The scenario is acutely captured through symbolism as his main stylistic device. The poem has a very sombre appeal for me, how it describes a silent and deep moment of reflection. I often have found relfection to change pending on my own perception of self and others around me-- as we all often do. Mood is everything, and you can blame the cycles of the moon all you want, moods are characterstic of how we relfect ourselves onto others. How we view ourselves in terms of our relationships/ I suppose, what i am getting at primarily in a very roundabout way is that I tend to find little time to relfect and spend too much trying to capture a moment. By holding onto it in a poem or a photograph. I watch the world go by. I suppose I find solace and peace being out in the hills, where I can capture the relfection of nature all around me. I enjoy these projects as it offers me a chance to step away from work and try and enhance what I already see. Even if I don;t always have my camera on me. or my batery runs out of juice.
