I think part of the assignment should include an essay (oh no, a writing project!) Maybe just have a standard form that people fill out to prompt a verbal response in addition to their imagery response.
The interaction afterwords that we used to do was great. I think everyone should comment on each person's work. (praise in addition to critique.)
Maybe you can have other people write the assignment instead of putting the burden on you. Get the structure laid out, get the participants, then let it grow on its own.

> 1) WHITE BLUE RED obvious, color. Many metaphorical possibilities
> 2) CHADOU ("way" of tea) huh? please explain
> 3) REFLECTION Cool, fun challenges await.
> 4) CHANGE (Waiting, Persistance, Choice) All too familiar. Change is good, change is bad, change is change.
> 5) DOORWAY I like it, one of the most important architectural features with many metaphorical possibilities.
> 6) CONFLICT Interesting, could be pretty challenging. Perfect!
> 7) TIME I suggested this one because photography stops time, however with some creativity, it can beautiful capture it. | admin

11/9/2004 2:45:13 PM | I cast my vote for the following 3:
White Blue Red - timely, especially for those statebound, as Eli said, this could be a color project.
Conflict - This could be the emotional project. We either feel it inside us or see it surround us, and if we see it, we usually feel it.
Doorway - This could be the physical thing project. Such a common structure, a passage taken for granted. At the same it can represent periods of our lives that we enter and exit. Walking out of a door of a loved one's hospital room full knowing that was the last time. A rice covered couple in a tux and white dress walking out of chapel doors. There is a cool doorway (just a door, no walls) in this movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374546/
...but of course people are going to take these in all directions, but I think these offer a good spectrum to choose from... | van
12/8/2004 2:18:54 AM | I don't want to be the un-creative/non-artistic type, but I'd like to see some topics or subjects that are more technical -- in an effort to compare each other's photos and find out what techniques work and don't work.
For example, I'd like to see: Macro, Landscape, Insect, Photoshop modified, Long exposure, Snow, Portrait, etc.
